Job Description
Puget Paws a small and well-loved private dog walking and pet sitting company that is expanding and we are seeking exceptional Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters to add to our great staff.

Service Areas: Lynnwood, Brier, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds, Woodway, Shoreline and Lake Forest Park.

Please note: This is a very part-time job to start. More hours available depending on performance and flexibility.

We currently need:

Mid-Day Dog Walkers:
Days: M-F, some weekends & Holidays
Hours: 10 am - 4 pm
Pay rate: $ 15 per hour, rate increases after completion of training. Additional pay for weekends, holidays and mileage reimbursements.

Walks are for 1 or more dogs of the same household. No “group” dog walks. Walks are performed in the pets’ neighborhood or nearby park.

A.M./P.M. Pet Visitors:
Visits are 1-2 visits per day for one day up to 3 weeks. (You’ll provide feeding, walking, plant watering, mail pickup etc. while clients are traveling.) Visits for pets range from 15 minutes to 60 minutes per visit between 6 am – 10:30 am and 6 pm -9 pm. (Perfect for someone who wants to supplement his/her income before and after a full-time job or school.)
Pay rate: $ 15 per hour, rate increases after completion of training. Additional pay for weekends, holidays and mileage reimbursements.

OVERNIGHT PET SITTERS:
Overnight (12 hours ie 7pm – 7am) stay in client homes. (You’ll provide feeding, walking, plant watering, mail pickup etc. while clients are traveling.) You must have at least 2 local overnight pet sitting references to apply for this job. Jobs range from a one night stay up to a three week stay. Please be available for both long and short durations.
Pay rate: Commission. Additional pay on holidays.

Requirements:
  • You have a reliable, insured car (a dog-friendly car) and valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • You are comfortable with driving on all major roads, highways and neighborhood streets.
  • You absolutely LOVE, have patience and experience with dogs and cats (own or previously owned, volunteered at shelters and/or professional experience).
  • You have concern for animal’s health, happiness and well-being.
  • You are neat, tidy and respectful in client homes.
  • You can work with us at least 6-12 months. The pets will want to develop a long-term relationship with you.
  • You are available to work over at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s. (Don’t worry; you’ll be paid an additional holiday bonus and will be able to have holiday plans of your own.)
  • You can pass a criminal / background check.
  • You have a smartphone, respond to messages in a timely manner and check your email daily.
  • You are at least 18 years of age or older.
  • You can work independently, follow detailed instructions, and are able to follow company policies and protocols.
  •  You have excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
  •  You are a problem solver.
  •  You are available for the days/hours listed above.
  • You have experience administering medications to both dogs and cats.
  • You feel comfortable walking at least 2 dogs at a time for long periods of time up and down hills (frequently at a fast pace ) with all breeds both BIG and small dog in rain snow or shine.
  • You are able to meet all the physical requirements: Stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, keeping balance while walking/caring for pets in outdoor and/or home environments, lifting pets up to 60 lbs ie off the ground/in and out of homes and vehicles.
