Event Description:
Gallery North Announces Its June Exhibit, “Connections”, Featuring Artists Eve Ingraham and Lauriel Sandstrom

Artists Eve Ingraham and Lauriel Sandstrom show their “Connections” between people and places in their exhibit at Gallery North this month. Eve Ingraham and Lauriel Sandstrom are members of Gallery North and Seattle CoArts. The two artists have teamed up to create a show that features paintings glowing with color in acrylic, watercolor, and pastel. Eve also will be showing her unique designer jewelry. The artists’ dynamic use of color makes their compositions sing. Both artists are inspired by the people and stories of the places shown in their artwork. This is what makes their work speak to the viewer’s heart.

Eve paints in plein air and also has learned to compose in the studio with her photographic eye; sometimes using two to three reference photos to represent her vision. Eve is skilled in several different painting mediums. Her travels this year included Europe, the Middle East, and Hawaii. As a jewelry designer, Eve loves working with stones and feels their power. She looks to share the beauty of a gem and its meaning to her customers. She often uses her distinctive wire wrapping technique to enhance her jewelry. In this show, she will be featuring her simple, long necklace designs. She also will present her “Bold Gem” earring look. Eve is a retired Kindergarten and Social Studies teacher and active Grandma.

“I love being in quaint villages while traveling and catching the everyday life of its inhabitants.” While walking along, I’ll see that special moment and say to myself: ‘that’s a painting’.” – Eve Ingraham

Lauriel Sandstrom comes to painting from a life as wife, mother, retired flight attendant, and political activist with creative undercurrents. After years of art instruction and observing people and her surroundings, her connections to them spill out onto the painting surface. She finds great joy in interpreting those feelings. Whether it’s the tension during a close baseball game, the glorious colors and scent of a tropical flower or an artful arrangement, or the staggering impact of a flowing Asian fabric, the brush calls to her.

“Reaching for those human connections and finding the courage to express those feelings through my paintings has truly enriched my life.”  - Lauriel Sandstrom

The opening reception for “Connections" will be held at Gallery North on June 10, 2018 from 1-4pm. Meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, enter to win prizes in hourly drawings, and shop for art. The artists also will be present at Gallery North during the Edmonds Art Walk on June 21st from 5-8pm. This exhibit will be open through June 30th.
